The Philadlephia Eagles have selected receiver Nelson Agholor out of USC with the 20th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Many felt the Eagles would try to move up and grab Marcus Mariota, but a reported massive deal wasn't enough to sway the Tennessee Titans.

Agholor is a nice consolation prize, though, as he fills a major positional need for Philly. The Eagles were left with Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews and Miles Austin at wideout after letting Jeremy Maclin walk in free agency.

Head coach Chip Kelly is known for using multiple personnel packages on offense, so expect Agholor to get plenty of playing time in 2015.

Strengths

  • Good footwork. Gains separation from corners on underneath routes by selling deep patterns and pushing them upfield, before making a hard cut.
  • Excellent punt returner. Ran back two for touchdowns in each of his final two seasons at USC.
  • Plays bigger than his size. Does a good job of escaping press coverage and making plays in traffic.
  • Adjusts his routes well when the quarterback is forced to scramble, making himself available and working back to the football.

Weaknesses

  • Used heavily in the slot in college. May have difficulty playing out wide in the pros.
  • Doesn't blow by corners frequently enough on deep routes.
  • Not a true deep threat.
  • Not a great run blocker. Has difficulty maintaining control of defenders because of his lack of strength and size.
