Legal issues resolved, Packers head coach wants to re-sign Letroy Guion

Free agent defensive tackle Letroy Guion has avoided prosecution after he was caught with 357 grams of marijuana, an unloaded handgun and over $190,000 in cash. Upon his plea agreement, the Green Bay Packers want to re-sign him for the 2015 season.

"I think to a man, everybody would like to see Letroy be a Green Bay Packer," head coach Mike McCarthy said at the NFC coaches breakfast to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Guion provided stability along the Packers' defensive line as a pass rushing defensive tackle, recording one forced fumble, 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season, with the latter two categories being career-highs.

Guion signed a one-year deal with the Packers, and was inserted in the starting lineup after B.J. Raji suffered a season-ending biceps injury prior to the regular season.

McCarthy indicated there was mutual interest between both parties.

"He's been an excellent addition to our football team and it would be great to get Letroy back," McCarthy said. "Just from my conversations with him, I know he we wants to be a Green Bay Packer."

Guion is an unrestricted free agent but may begin to field offers from a couple of teams with his legal problems resolved.
