The Houston Texans have reportedly re-signed veteran linebacker Akeem Dent to a two-year deal, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.

Dent first joined the Texans in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons last offseason. He went on to appear in 15 games throughout the 2014 campaign, recording 38 tackles and one sack.

Now having established himself as a reliable presence on the interior defensive front seven, Dent should be in position to compete for the starting spot next to Brian Cushing.

If healthy, the Texans' defense has the makings of a much-improved unit against the run for the 2015 season.
