Report: Raiders close to agreement with Terrance Knighton

The Oakland Raiders are reportedly close to finalizing a free-agent contract with defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, according to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.

While Tafur indicates that the deal is not yet complete, leaving open the possibility for things to change, Knighton has long been thought of as a logical fit for the Raiders leading up to the free agency period.

A strong interior presence against the run, Knighton was highly productive over the past two seasons with the division-rival Denver Broncos, where he played on a defense led by new Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio.

Knighton is widely considered to be one of the top free-agent defensive tackles available after Ndamukong Suh, and should he agree to a deal with the cap-rich Raiders, he'll certainly be paid accordingly.

The Raiders, of course, got started on their offseason spending by adding a key player from another division rival, reportedly agreeing to a five-year, $44.5-million deal with Kansas City Chiefs center Rodney Hudson.
