Report: Bills, LeSean McCoy close to new contract
The LeSean McCoy era in Buffalo is almost officially underway.
McCoy and the Bills are finalizing a new contract, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, after Buffalo acquired him on March 3, trading linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Philadelphia Eagles. The trade will be made official for March 10.
The 26-year-old rushed for 1,319 yards and five touchdowns, spearheading the Eagles' offense. McCoy was the league's leading rusher two years ago and is the most prolific offensive weapon the Bills have had in over a decade.
Under Greg Roman's run-heavy offensive scheme, McCoy will likely get over 300 touches entering 2015 and could make a strong push for his second rushing title in three years. Buffalo will also use Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown in more limited roles.
McCoy was reportedly unhappy about joining the Bills, but a new contract will likely change his feelings towards playing in Western New York.
