Report: Chiefs re-sign Josh Mauga to 3-year deal

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly re-signed linebacker Josh Mauga to a three-year deal worth close to $8 million, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

After joining the team on a free-agent deal last offseason, Mauga went on to start in all 16 games in 2014, totaling a team-leading 103 tackles.

Though the Chiefs are quite short on cap space heading into free agency, the team made it a priority to re-sign the 27-year-old before he hit the open market.

Given the salary he's slated to make, he'll certainly be given the opportunity to compete for a starting role once again in 2015.
