Report: Eagles determined to land Marcus Mariota

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Chip Kelly's admiration for Marcus Mariota is no secret, but landing the former Oregon quarterback will be no easy task.

Nonetheless, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports that the Eagles are determined to get their guy and will be making a strong play to draft Mariota.

As Kempski notes, forecasting a trade that would allow the Eagles to land Mariota is extremely difficult given the number of variables and teams involved. Trading up for Mariota would presumably cost Philadelphia a high number of draft picks both this year and in the future.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who hold the No. 1 overall pick, are expected to draft Mariota or Jameis Winston. If they go with the latter, the Eagles may have to move up to as high as No. 2 overall to get Mariota.
