Titans' Michael Roos announces retirement

Jake Roth / US PRESSWIRE

Long-time Tennessee Titans left tackle Michael Roos is retiring from the NFL, he announced on Instagram on Thursday.

Roos, 32, joined the Titans as a second-round pick in 2005. He quickly became one of the league's best and most unheralded blindside protectors, earning All-Pro honors three times.

Roos missed only one game in the first nine seasons of his career, but appeared in only five games last season after suffering a significant knee injury.

With Roos's retirement, Taylor Lewan is expected to become the Titans' starting left tackle on a permanent basis.
