Report: Broncos, Peyton Manning working on revising contract

Peyton Manning could be trying to do his team a favor before he announces a return. 

The Denver Broncos are working with the quarterback on revising his contract, according to Mike Klis of The Denver Post. 

Many have wondered why Manning, who's scheduled to make $19 million in 2015, doesn't take less money to give the Broncos some extra cash to spend in free agency. 

Tom Brady has re-worked his deal and taken less than market value in the past to make the New England Patriots more competitive. 

Still, it's ultimately Manning's decision, and even if he did take a pay cut, there are no guarantees. Denver was a major player in free agency last offseason, signing T.J. Ward, DeMarcus Ware and Emmanuel Sanders, but fell short of a championship. 

The Broncos desperately need to keep some of their own free agents this time around, though. Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, Orlando Franklin, Terrance Knighton and Rahim Moore are all set to hit the market. 

One would think Manning's primary reason for returning is to win another Super Bowl, and restructuring his deal could help the Broncos' chances of making that a reality.
