Report: Broncos to meet with James Casey

Jeffrey J. Pittenger / USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos appear to be bracing for the loss of Julius Thomas.

Denver is planning to meet with free-agent tight end James Casey on Thursday, according to Mike Klis of The Denver Post.

Casey was released by the Philadelphia Eagles last week and knows new Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak well, playing with the Houston Texans from 2009-12.

The 30-year-old has only made six catches in the past two seasons, playing largely as a backup. But perhaps a reunion with Kubiak and potentially catching passes from Peyton Manning could make him a serviceable option.
