Jackson is unlikely to receive the franchise tag, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

The tag for cornerbacks will be approximately $13 million, and while Jackson has proven to be a solid starter, he isn't quite worth that kind of money for just one season. The Texans still want to keep him around, so the two sides will likely try to hammer out a multi-year deal before free agency begins in March. Jackson is averaging two interceptions and 10 passes defensed through his first five NFL seasons, but he hasn't reached 60 tackles since his rookie campaign of 2010. To be fair, he did record 56 and 57 the past two seasons, despite being limited to 27 total games. On a per-game basis, Jackson provided reasonable IDP production for a cornerback in 2014.
