Report: Peyton Manning tells Broncos he's ready to play in 2015

Peyton Manning appears set to continue his Hall of Fame career for at least one more season.

Manning has told Denver Broncos officials that he is physically and mentally prepared to play at a significant level in 2015, as reported by Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Manning met with members of the Broncos' brass on Thursday.

While the 38-year-old's decision is not yet official and retirement is still technically on the table, calling it a career is not an option he has expressed interest in throughout his discussions with the Broncos' organization.

As Mortensen explained earlier in the day Friday, an official announcement from Manning is expected to come at some point next week.

"I would be surprised if we don’t have some type of word next week some time," Mortensen said according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "That’s when I would expect that we would have word, officially, that Peyton is going to play football."

Having played at an incredibly high level prior to suffering a thigh injury late in the 2014 season, it would come as no surprise if Manning does indeed return for at least another year.

Despite this past season's disappointing conclusion, Manning teaming up with a new coaching staff and plenty of returning talent could have the Broncos in Super Bowl contention once again.
