Browns organization growing tired of Johnny Manziel

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel strugged mightily during his rookie season and reports are his antics wore on his teammates quickly.

Manziel started two games after Brian Hoyer was pulled from the starting lineup and the Heisman Trophy winner failed to throw a touchdown.

The former Texas A&M star was fined during the final week of the season for missing a walkthrough practice and reports of Manziel partying throughout the year ran rampant.

Many members of the Browns organization commented on Manziel's lack of discipline Friday.

"During the draft process, not one person interviewed by the team said he was going to grow up," a Browns source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Pat McManamon. "You can't blame Johnny. This is who he is. The team knew that."

Cleveland selected Manziel with the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

"He's competitive," Browns tight end Jordan Cameron said. "So I'm hoping that competitive nature will get him past all the other stuff. Hopefully he does, and hopefully he figures it out."

Although he's played just one season, Browns upper management doesn't seem convinced that Manziel will be the franchise quarterback they imagined less than 12 months ago.

"We've got to get a quarterback and got to get it fixed," Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said at a banquet Thursday.

Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo echoed Haslam's sentiments at his introductory press conference.

"We're not sure if our starting quarterback is in the building or not," DeFilippo said. "If he is, great. If he isn't, great too."

Manziel has been a destabilizing presence in the Browns organization, but not everyone is ready to give up on him.

"People make mistakes," Browns star cornerback Joe Haden said. "I'm all about giving second chances."
