Report: Colts reported Pats under-inflated balls in November

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts first informed the NFL of their concerns about the New England Patriots using illegally under-inflated footballs after a regular-season game in November, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter in a report by Chris Mortensen.

According to Schefter, Colts safety Mike Adams intercepted two passes in the Nov. 6 game - a 42-20 win by the Patriots - and gave the balls to a Colts equipment manager. At some point in the process, the Colts began to suspect the balls were inflated to a point below the NFL's required threshold.

Schefter reports the Colts raised their concerns to the league at the time.

The NFL's investigation into whether the Patriots used illegal balls in Sunday's AFC championship is ongoing.
