The Arizona Cardinals had hoped to have injured quarterback Carson Palmer back in time for training camp, but it looks as though he could return sooner.

Head coach Bruce Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday that Palmer - who is two months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL - is "so far" ahead of schedule in his recovery.

"He's hoping to be back for the mandatory minicamp," Arians said, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. "I wouldn't put it past him to be to be out there in some of the OTAs."

Recovery from ACL surgery can take anywhere from six-to-nine months, depending on age and the severity of the injury.

Arians added that backup quarterback Drew Stanton, who missed the last three games of the season with a knee injury, "should be ready to go" by the time offseason team activities get underway.
