Redskins hire Joe Barry as defensive coordinator

The Washington Redskins have hired Joe Barry as their defensive coordinator, the team announced Tuesday.
Barry has spent the last four seasons as the San Diego Chargers' linebackers coach, last serving as a defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2007-08.
The Redskins were linked to a number of candidates for the position after parting ways with Jim Haslett, finalizing a deal with Barry shortly after former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio opted to take a job with the Chicago Bears.
