Report: Doug Marrone was unhappy with Sammy Watkins trade

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone was reportedly irked by the team's decision to trade up for wide receiver Sammy Watkins during May's draft.

Marrone, who opted out of his contract with the Bills on Wednesday, was not in favor of Buffalo trading a future first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns and would have preferred a deal involving a quarterback, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

How unhappy Marrone was with the trade varies, as some sources told Schefter he stormed out of the room, while others recalled him simply walking out.

Schefter's findings add fuel to an earlier report from Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News in which Mehta says Marrone was not well-liked among Bills players and co-workers and belittled people across all levels of the organization.

Marrone is scheduled to interview for the New York Jets' head coaching vacancy Sunday and, according to Schefter, is considered the favorite to land the job.
