Report: 'Something big' going on with Eagles following Gamble departure

The Philadelphia Eagles' decision to part ways with Vice President of Player Personnel Tom Gamble came as a surprise to many, and could hint at much bigger issues going on within the organization.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who cites a "plugged-in league source," there is a sense that "something big" could be going on in Philadelphia in the aftermath of Gamble's departure.

It's unclear what Florio means, but Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly reported Wednesday there's trouble brewing between general manager Howie Roseman and others within the organization, including head coach Chip Kelly.

There's also this report from Voodoo Brown columnist and former NFL Films director/producer Darren DeGaetano:

As Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com notes, Kelly is under contract with the Eagles for the next three seasons and would need owner Jeffrey Lurie's blessing to coach for another NFL team.

Kelly was asked about his relationship with Roseman during season-ending news conference Monday, and replied with: "Good."

Asked later about Gamble, whom he brought on board when he joined the Eagles in 2013, Kelly provided a more lengthy response:

"I think Tom does an outstanding job and if he has the opportunity to (become a general manager), then I would support him in anything," Kelly said. "And if I can give him any help in that situation I would. But he's a heck of a football guy."
