Cowboys believe Tony Romo is league MVP

The Dallas Cowboys have clinched the NFC East title and now they're looking for some individual recognition.

Many Cowboys made the case for Tony Romo as league MVP after their 42-7 drubbing of the Indianapolis Colts, including (of course) owner Jerry Jones.

"He certainly is in my book" Jones said when asked if Romo was the MVP, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN. "He is for me.

"Yes, he is, because (DeMarco) Murray has certainly carried his share, but Tony's quarterbacking this year was indispensable." Jones went on. "We couldn't have had the team, and we have a team that probably right now is in the top four or five teams in the league. That's pretty good qualification of the vote."

Romo leads all quarterbacks in completion percentage (70.4) and passer rating (114.4) and has dealt with a back injury that cost him one start.

"Hell yeah, he is. He's the MVP," No. 1 receiver Dez Bryant said. "Look at the performance. He's giving 'em hell in December. Icing on the cake. Give it to him. He's doing a hell of a job."

The Cowboys seem optimistic about his odds on winning, but with Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the mix, not to mention J.J. Watt, the chances Romo wins the award are very slim.

"He's got to be up for it," said tight end and best buddy Jason Witten. "I know there's other quarterbacks that have played well. We're a little bit biased, but if you take that first game out of the season and really the first half, he's been remarkable the way he's done it."
