Jimmy Clausen: Named Week 16 Starter

Clausen will start for the Bears in place of Jay Cutler for their Week 16 matchup against the Lions, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Analysis:

Clausen has attempted just nine passes since the 2010 season, when he appeared in 13 games for Carolina, and threw three touchdowns compared to nine interceptions. He doesn't have much of an NFL track record that suggests he'll be successful in the league, but coach Marc Trestman has confidence in him over the incumbent Jay Cutler, who leads the league with 18 interceptions this season. Clausen will face a tough matchup in his first start of 2014, as the Lions rank second in the league in total defense.
