Chiefs confirm signing of Jason Avant

The Kansas City Chiefs made their signing of veteran wide receiver Jason Avant official Friday.
Avant caught 21 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown in 11 games with the Carolina Panthers this season. He is also familiar with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid from their time together in Philadelphia, where Reid coached from 2006 to 2012.
The Chiefs placed wide receiver A.J. Jenkins on injured reserve to make room for Avant on the 53-man roster.
