McCoy will be delegated to backup duties Sunday against the Vikings, as Robert Griffin (ankle) will take over the starting job, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Analysis:

McCoy was apparently informed after practice Wednesday that he would be the backup for the Week 9 matchup in Minnesota. Griffin's ankle injury appears to be nearing full strength, so he'll get the starting nod for the first time since Week 2. McCoy more than proved he's a serviceable backup with his pristine accuracy Monday night, and will be the likely fallback option should Griffin experience discomfort at any point.
