Redemption: Patriots' Chris Jones blocks FG after last year's penalty

David Butler II / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots defensive tackle Chris Jones blocked New York Jets kicker Nick Folk's potential game-winning kick on Thursday, helping his team to victory.

That moment would have been extra sweet for Jones, who last year against those same Jets was called for a penalty that cost the Patriots the game.

Folk missed a 56-yarder against the Pats last year in overtime, but got another chance when Jones was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty for pushing a teammate forward in attempt to block the kick. Folk made the ensuing try and the Jets won.

Jones took a lot of heat for the play and head coach Bill Belichick was happy to see him exercise the demons, sort of speak.

The redemption story is just another unique wrinkle in the Jets-Patriots rivalry.
