Report: Giants release Mario Manningham

Noah K. Murray / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants released receiver Mario Manningham from injured reserve Tuesday, Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Manningham suffered a calf injury late in the preseason, resulting in his placement on IR, but he was the roster bubble long before then. The 28-year-old missed the first half of last season while recovering from a torn ACL, and he caught just nine of 23 targets for 85 yards in six games with the 49ers when healthy, so it's hard to imagine he'll garner significant interest now that he's a free agent.
