Chiefs set world record for loudest stadium vs. Patriots

Denny Medley / USA TODAY Sports

Arrowhead Stadium is known for being a raucous environment for opposing teams, but they set the bar a bit higher Monday.

During their game against the New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs' fans set the Guinness World Record for being the loudest stadium. The Kansas City faithful were registered at an ear-popping 142.2 decibels.

The previous record belonged to the Seattle Seahawks' fan base at CenturyLink Field, where they reached 137.6 decibels during a Dec. 2 game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football last season.

Kansas City's frenetic crowd may be throwing the Patriots off their game.
