Colts place Robert Mathis on reserve/non-football injury list

After serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Robert Mathis was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Mathis tore his Achilles tendon during a private workout and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Nonetheless, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was thrilled to have the NFL's leader in sacks from last season back with the team

“It was great to walk into the team meeting today and (Mathis) always sits in the same seat he’s sat in forever, in the upper right-hand corner seat, and I looked up there and saw his face," Pagano said at a press conference Monday.

"I had to take a double take. It was awesome, awesome to have him back.”

The Colts hope to continue their two-game winning streak without their veteran leader.
