Fantasy Footnotes: Giants come up big on Thursday night

Geoff Burke / Reuters

Every gameday during the regular season, theScore's fantasy editors recap the most important news and notes from around the league.

Giants come alive through the air

The New York Giants figured things out through the air in a big way Thursday night, and it started with tight end Larry Donnell who brought in seven balls for 54 yards and three scores.

Quarterback Eli Manning had a monster fantasy day as well, completing 28-of-39 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns with an interception, adding a fifth touchdown on the ground.

Redskins' quarterback issues re-emerge

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins had himself a fine first half, but he came completely unraveled after the break.

Cousins threw four interceptions in the second half, and even that doesn't tell the story of how bad he was in the final 30 minutes of the game.

Robert Griffin III is expected back from an ankle injury in six to eight weeks, and can't get back on the field soon enough.

Other Notable Fantasy Lines

Alfred Morris, RB, Redskins
12 carries, 63 yards, TD, 3 catches, 27 yards, 3 targets
Just about the only usable Redskin on Thursday night was Morris. He made some noise in the third quarter with a 20-yard run and a 27-yard reception to salvage his day.

Andre Williams, RB, Giants
15 carries, 66 yards, TD, 1 target
Williams hasn't gotten the kind of usage many expected him to after a solid showing in the preseason, but he did actually see the field in the latter stages of this blowout.

Victor Cruz, WR, Giants
6 catches, 108 yards, 10 targets
The Giants' top wideout posted his second consecutive 100-yard game even in the midst of a blowout.

Rueben Randle, WR, Giants
8 catches, 89 yards, 10 targets
Randle hasn't looked to be on the same page as Eli Manning through three weeks, but the two finally found some chemistry in Washington.

Injury Ward

Niles Paul, TE, Redskins
The Redskins' backup tight end has been very useful in Jordan Reed's absence, but fantasy owners took a hit when he exited with what's being called a concussion after catching three balls for 60 yards. Logan Paulsen caught three passes for 28 in relief.

Trent Williams, LT, Redskins
The anchor of the Redskins' offensive line, Williams isn't on any fantasy teams, but an extended absence would have an impact on every name from top to bottom on the roster. The Oklahoma product exited Thursday night's game with a knee injury.

Waiver Wire

Larry Donnell, TE, Giants
The hot waiver add after Week 1 didn't need a coming out party, but he had one on the national stage Thursday night. Still available in nearly half of Yahoo! leagues, the Grambling State product can provide free relief to owners in need of help at the position.

Andre Williams, RB, Giants
The Boston College product finally got an opportunity to carry the load in the latter stages of Thursday's blowout and he looked good. While Rashad Jennings may still be atop the totem pole, Williams's usage should only continue to rise as he gets more accustomed to the pro game.
