Here's what you need to know

  • Alex Smith had a typically efficient outing, going 19-of-25 for 186 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
  • Running back Jamaal Charles was a game-time decision for the Chiefs, and ultimately didn't play, but Knile Davis proved to be a worthy replacement. Davis rushed for 132 yards on 32 carries and added a touchdown.
  • Joe McKnight fell off many people's radar, but came back in a big way for the Chiefs. McKnight caught two touchdowns and was the team's leading receiver with 64 yards on six catches.
  • Kansas City recorded four sacks while Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill failed to establish a rhythm with any of his receivers, save for Mike Wallace.
  • Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe was a standout player, recording 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits and a pass deflection.
  • Wallace added five catches for 74 yards and running back Lamar Miller ran for 108 yards on 15 carries in a losing effort.
  • Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry briefly left the game, but returned.
  • With the loss, the Dolphins trail both the Patriots and Bills in the AFC East, while the Chiefs still trail the Chargers and Broncos in the AFC West.
