Cassel was carted off the field in the second quarter after getting crushed by New Orleans Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton and safety Kenny Vaccaro on a 5-yard scramble.
Teddy Bridgewater, the Vikings' first-round pick, led the team to a field goal on his first drive.
