Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell: 'Keep coming at me'

Jim O'Connor / USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell is often the forgotten member of the Legion of Boom.

Maxwell was targeted 11 times in the season opener, as the Packers avoided Seahawks superstar cornerback Richard Sherman, but he's not expecting a break anytime soon.

"Keep coming at me," Maxwell told 710 ESPN Seattle.

The fourth-year pro excelled last year, after taking over the starting role from Brandon Browner.

Maxwell recorded four interceptions after starting five games, and forced a Demaryius Thomas fumble in the Super Bowl.

Despite his recent success, the former Clemson star understands the universal respect Sherman engenders.

"I take it as earning my keep. Like I said, he's got 16 picks.

"He's earned that respect. I feel like I've got to earn that respect in this league for them not to come at me. I've got to prove that."

Seattle takes on San Diego in Week 2.
