Report: Browns' Pettine says Manziel package 'could happen' against Saints
It seems the Cleveland Browns may finally be ready to unleash Johnny Football on the NFL world.
Browns head coach Mike Pettine said Wednesday that a Johnny Manziel package "could happen" Sunday when Cleveland hosts the New Orleans Saints.
Manziel didn't see the field in the team's season-opening 30-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Starter Brian Hoyer completed 19-of-31 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown.
Manziel completed 30 of his 59 pass attempts for 296 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason, but has reportedly had issues grasping the Browns' playbook.
With that said, it could just be a bit of gamesmanship on Pettine's part. This from Cleveland.com:
"The Ryans are paranoid and very detailed in their preparation,'' he said with a smile.
