Report: Broncos' Von Miller passes physical, won't open camp on PUP list

July 23, 3:22 PM

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller passed his physical Wednesday and will not be placed on the physically unable to perform list to open training camp, Mike Klis of The Denver Post reports

Klis goes on to say that Miller's usage in training camp will be closely monitored and that the linebacker won't have contact "until the third preseason game at the earliest."

Miller suffered a torn ACL in Week 16, so his recovery could be considered ahead of schedule. Last month, the former No. 2 overall pick said he is looking to Adrian Peterson's rapid recovery from a torn ACL for inspiration in his own rehab.

Von Miller to return in Saturday's preseason game vs. Texans

Aug 23, 3:08 PM

Denver Broncos star linebacker Von Miller continues to be ahead of schedule in his return from a torn ACL and he will make his preseason debut in Saturday's game against the Houston Texans, according to the Denver Post.

"I've had a lot of practice at full speed," he said. "And with all the practicing here with the Texans, I think it will help make the game seem a little easier. I'm excited."

If Miller can return to the dominant level of play he has become known for throughout his career, he and free-agent addition DeMarcus Ware could make for one of the NFL's most dangerous pass-rushing tandems this season.

Broncos' Von Miller on Adrian Peterson's recovery from knee surgery: 'I use it for motivation'

June 15, 10:25 AM

Adrian Peterson's recovery from knee surgery following the 2011 season was nothing short of remarkable. After tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 16, Peterson returned in 2012 to run for 2,097 yards, the second most in NFL history, and earn MVP honors.

Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller suffered a similar fate at the end of last season when he tore his ACL in Week 16, and he is using Peterson's recovery as motivation.

"Everything that he did, I just use it for motivation," Miller told the team's website. "It’s not really like a competition or anything like that. Everybody’s body is different. I just look at him and try to see all the stuff that he was doing to help better his body and try to do some of the same stuff."

Miller has been participating in OTAs and is nearing full speed during conditioning drills.

The Broncos will need a healthy Miller to get their pass defense back on track. Denver finished 27th against the pass last year compared to a 3rd overall ranking in 2012. Miller had 18 1/2 sacks that season and only five in 2013 because of missing seven games due to suspension and injuries, so it's safe to say the defensive unit relies on him heavily.

Report: Broncos LB Miller to undergo ACL surgery Wednesday

Jan 7, 4:16 PM

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller will go under the knife to have a torn ACL in his right knee repaired, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.

Miller suffered the injury back in Week 16, and he was promptly placed on injured reserve, ending his season. It's typical for doctors to wait for swelling in the knee to subside before scheduling surgery.

Miller's recovery is expected to force him to miss some or all of the Broncos' offseason program, but he could be back on the field in time for training camp.

Report: Broncos' Irving, Ayers, Mincey to replace injured LB Miller

Dec 25, 10:21 AM

The Broncos will employ a coalition comprised of Nate Irving, Robert Ayers, and Jeremy Mincey to replace injured linebacker Von Miller against the Raiders on Sunday, reports Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Miller, who was limited to just nine games this season, tore his anterior cruciate ligament last Sunday against the Texans, effectively ending his season.  The 24-year-old was placed on the injured reserve on Tuesday.

Klis notes that Irving, who has started three games this season, will likely receive the bulk of the running-down snaps, while Ayers and Mincey will see the field on presumptive passing plays.

Broncos place LB Von Miller on IR, sign LB Brandon Marshall to active roster

Dec 24, 7:40 PM

The Broncos officially placed linebacker Von Miller on injured reserve on Tuesday, and signed linebacker Brandon Marshall to the active roster from the team's practice squad, the club announced

Miller's done for the season with a torn ACL, and Marshall earns a promotion. Marshall's spent the entire season on the Broncos' practice squad. He played five games for the Jaguars last year, in his rookie season.

The Broncos' Stuart Zaas writes:

"A second-year player out of Nevada, Marshall was drafted by the Jaguars in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He totaled 259 tackles with 40 tackles for a loss, six sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries during his career with the Wolf Pack."

Linebacker Nate Irving is expected to start in Miller's place on Sunday in Oakland.

Report: Broncos LB Miller tears ACL; out for the season

Dec 23, 12:33 PM

The news is in regarding Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller's knee injury and it's as bad as the Broncos initially feared.

An MRI Monday confirmed the injury.

The loss of Miller is a crushing blow to the Broncos' Super Bowl aspirations, but the team managed without him as he served a lengthy suspension for a violation of the NFL's drugs policy to start the season.

Report: Broncos now believe LB Miller suffered knee sprain, not torn ACL

Dec 23, 10:29 AM

Though reports emerged Sunday afternoon suggesting the Denver Broncos fear linebacker Von Miller will be diagnosed with a season-ending knee injury following an MRI Monday, Vic Lombardi of CBS4 reports the Broncos are optimistic the injury isn't as bad as initially believed.

An ACL tear would almost certainly end Miller's season. A tear of a lesser knee ligament or a knee sprain would likely prevent Miller from playing in Week 17, but it's not out of the question he could return to the field following a Broncos bye in the first round of the playoffs.

We won't have a clear picture of Miller's status until after his MRI results are revealed.

Report: Broncos fear LB Miller knee injury is 'significant'

Dec 22, 3:38 PM

The season from hell for Denver Broncos' linebacker Von Miller may be cut short before his team can start their quest for a Super Bowl.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Miller will undergo tests on his injured knee Monday, and the team is afraid the damage he suffered is significant. There is even fear it could be an ACL injury.

Miller, who was suspended for the first six games of the season for violating league policy when the NFL discovered that he tried to cheat a drug test, has five sacks, 26 tackles and seven assists on tackles in eight games this season.
