NFL narrows potential 2015 Draft hosts to Los Angeles and Chicago
The NFL has narrowed down its search for a new draft host in 2015 to Los Angeles and Chicago.
Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to a group of reporters on Thursday after appearing on a CBS Thursday Night Football panel and had this to say via Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times.
“We’re focusing solely on Los Angeles and Chicago now,” Goodell said. “We had 12 cities that were interested. We felt the best thing to do was to focus on the three cities, because they had such a tremendous interest. There are very attractive aspects to each of those cities. Because we don’t have the appropriate dates in May our focus is completely on Los Angeles and Chicago."
That would rule out New York, which has hosted the event since 1965. Radio City Music Hall was booked up throughout April and May of 2015.
There have been rumblings that Los Angeles and Chicago could split the hosting duties. In the reported scenario Los Angeles would get the first round with Chicago taking the rest.
