Shaq becomes a Giants fan

Shaquille O'Neal has shifted his allegiances from one NFC East team to another.

The former NBA superstar noted during "Inside the NBA" on TNT earlier in the week he has now become a fan of the New York Giants after they drafted wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the first round.

“Congratulations,” said O’Neal via Giants.com. “I used to be a Cowboys fan. Now I’m a Giants fan.”

O'Neal and Beckham Jr. both went to LSU, but the pair have a stronger bound than that.

Odell Beckham Sr. was a running back at LSU at the same time O'Neal was also starring for the Tigers, and O'Neal became close to his family. Beckham Sr. would take his son around campus and the youngster spent some time with O'Neal on the basketball court.

"Shaq would lift him up and dunk. Shaq was like his uncle, and still is," Beckham Sr. told the Times-Picayune in September 2013.

Given his 5-foot-11 frame, Beckham Jr. was clearly destined for the football field and not the hardwood.
