Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch 'didn't want to go' to White House

As the Seattle Seahawks celebrated their Super Bowl victory at the White House on Wednesday, one key contributor to the title was noticeably absent.

However, Marshawn Lynch wasn't making a political statement like Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas once did. His mother told the Seattle Times he had a far less complex reason for not attending.

“No particular reason was given to me,’’ she said. “He just said he didn’t want to go.’’

Delisa Lynch added that the running back was mourning the recent loss of a family member, but she still thought her son was planning on going.

Lynch's history would indicate he's not a fan of the spotlight, as he rarely talks to the media. Perhaps his decision not to participate was simply another example of him shying away from the camera.

Still, he was missed by one important person in attendance.

“I am sorry that Marshawn’s not here because I just want to say how much I admire his approach to the press,” said President Barack Obama. “I wanted to get some tips from him. It’s about the action.”
