The Philadelphia Eagles selected a player few "experts" had as a first-round talent Thursday, grabbing defensive end Marcus Smith out of Louisville.

The Eagles' defense was considered by most to be a bit of a weakness, so it isn't surprising that the team would use its first-round selection (originally No. 22 overall - the Eagles traded back with the Browns) on that side of the ball.

Smith played defensive end at Louisville, but he'll likely move to outside linebacker in the Eagles' 3-4 base defense. Regardless of where he lines up, he'll be tasked with improving the Eagles' pass rush.

With Calvin Pryor selected earlier Thursday, it's the first time ever that two Louisville products were selected in the first round.
