Bears' Trubisky calls Glennon the starter

Mitchell Trubisky represents the quarterbacking future of the Chicago Bears, but he's entering that role as humble as possible.

Speaking at his introductory press conference Friday, the second overall pick said he expects to begin his career behind Mike Glennon, whom the Bears gave a big-money deal in free agency, on the depth chart.

"I haven’t talked to Mike yet but I’m very excited to work with him and the rest of the quarterbacks here. Mike is the starting quarterback and I’m very excited to learn from him and the rest of the veterans on the team and I can’t wait to help the Bears win," Trubisky said, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith.

Trubisky started only 13 games in college and is seen as a developmental prospect by nearly every draft analyst, so it's widely expected that the Bears will sit Trubisky behind Glennon - perhaps for a full season.

But the Bears didn't trade away a haul as big as the one they surrendered to move up one spot for a backup. Before long, and perhaps a lot sooner than we expect, Trubisky will be the starter.
