Watson: Pick Trubisky over me and you'll 'live with the consequences'

Deshaun Watson has given NFL teams fair warning.

Though the former Clemson superstar is widely considered one of the top quarterbacks in this year's draft, the vast majority of projections tab Mitchell Trubisky as the first passer off the board.

Watson believes any team that arrives at such a decision will pay for it.

"You're gonna have to live with the consequences that come with it. That's how I see it," Watson said Tuesday morning on NFL Network, according to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com. "I try to stay in my lane. I try not to take the path. I respect Mitch and what he's done and all the hype he's getting, but at the same time, my result speaks for itself. I feel like I've accomplished everything that I could. I guess if that's who they're gonna roll with, so be it."

The results Watson alluded to couldn't be much more impressive.

He's making the jump to the NFL coming off two incredibly productive seasons as the starter at Clemson, each of which ended with a national championship appearance against Alabama.

Watson led the way to a win the second time around with 420 passing yards and three touchdowns, highlighted by a game-winning drive with the clock ticking down in the fourth quarter.

There are questions about his arm strength and interception issues, but it's tough to argue with a two-year stretch that included 8,702 passing yards, 76 touchdowns, and wins in 28-of-30 games.

However the draft boards shake out, Watson is expected to be a first-round pick Thursday night.
