Giants nab Davis Webb in 3rd round, find possible successor to Eli Manning

Cal Football/Twitter

The New York Giants have selected quarterback Davis Webb out of Cal in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

If all goes according to plan, Webb could succeed Eli Manning as the Giants' starting quarterback - but ideally not for several more seasons. That should give Webb plenty of time to develop.

Webb was overlooked in a quarterback class that includes names like Mitchell Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes (who once beat out Webb for the starting job at Texas Tech), and Deshaun Watson, but some analysts believe Webb has a skill set that's similar to his predecessor at Cal, Jared Goff.
