Report: Saints to sign Chase Daniel to 1-year contract

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints will sign quarterback Chase Daniel to a one-year contract, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports, citing a source.

Daniel requested and was granted his release by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason, after the team signed Nick Foles to a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old was believed to be seeking a chance to start, but he won't get that in New Orleans, where Drew Brees is entrenched as starter.

It's a homecoming of sorts for Daniel, who began his career with the Saints in 2009 and remained with the team through 2012.
