49ers owner not expecting to gain fans from Raiders' move

Raiders fans aren't Oakland fans - they're Raiders fans.

San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York knows that.

Following the confirmation that the Raiders will be moving to Las Vegas in 2019 or 2020, there's a large group of Bay Area football fans who know they'll be without a local team to cheer for, but York isn't expecting Raider Nation to cut their allegiances so fast.

"The Raiders fans are a unique group," York said Monday, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. "I don't know that they've necessarily been loyal to L.A. or to Oakland, I think they have always been loyal to the Raiders.

"I think you'll see the Raiders following them wherever they may go and going to Las Vegas in a few years, I think you'll see that really take place."

Given that the team has already moved out of Oakland and come back, York isn't setting his expectations so high, but he does believe it's a positive move for the league.

"So for us, I don't think it's a big win for the 49ers but I think it's a good thing for the National Football League," said York. "The Raiders have tried to get a deal done in Oakland for a decade plus and they were unfortunately able to do anything and I think Las Vegas put together a good opportunity for the Raiders to continue to have a good experience for their overall fan base wherever their fans come from."

General manager John Lynch, however, wasn't afraid to start soliciting whatever bandwagon jumpers are out there.

"Raider fans, we're open for business," Lynch said on NFL Network, according to Wagoner. "Come and jump on our train. But the Raiders are a great brand and I think it kind of transcends location.

"I'm sure a lot of those people will go down to Vegas and have a good time supporting them in the future."
