Panthers' Kelvin Benjamin: Gets fifth-year option picked up by Panthers

Benjamin will have his fifth-year option picked up by the Panthers, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Analysis:

This comes as little surprise as Benjamin, when healthy, has been the team's best receiver since landing in Carolina in 2014. He hauled in 63 of 118 targets for 941 yards and seven touchdowns in 2016 and proved to be a reliable threat deep down the field with 10 receptions of 20 or more yards. According to Person, Benjamin's option figures to be in the $8 million range in 2018.
