The New York Giants want an answer on whether defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins will accept the offer they have on the table, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Hankins is one of the top names remaining on the free-agent market and the Giants want him back - at a specific price.

Hankins reportedly has tried to beat the team's offer on the open market, but so far hasn't been able to do so.

A return to the Giants does seem to make sense for Hankins, but it's possible the team's offer is of the lowball variety and this report was leaked by the Giants to put pressure on Hankins.

With the first few waves of free agency over, there is no significant incentive for Hankins to rush to sign a deal.
