Report: Jets to meet with Josh McCown

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets are scheduled to meet with veteran quarterback Josh McCown, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, citing a source.

McCown became a free agent this offseason when the Cleveland Browns elected to part ways with him after two seasons.

The 37-year-old journeyman is undoubtedly closing in on the end of his NFL career, but he presumably interests the Jets as either a bridge to a younger quarterback or as a short-term backup.

Appearing in five games this past season and starting in three, McCown threw for 1,100 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions.

He enjoyed one of his most efficient seasons while starting eight games the year prior, completing 63.7 percent of his passes en route to 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
