Westbrooks not charged after arrest on suspicion of domestic violence

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento County district attorney's office announced Tuesday it declined to file charges against Ethan Westbrooks "pending further investigation," a DA spokesperson told Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times.

Westbrooks was arrested March 5 after police were called to investigate a child custody dispute, and officers found that a woman had suffered injuries to her upper body.

The Los Angeles Rams defensive end was found at a nearby residence and brought in on suspicion of domestic violence before being released the following day.

The Rams released a statement shortly thereafter, indicating they were aware of the "serious allegations:"

We are aware of the serious allegations involving Ethan Westbrooks. We are in contact with authorities and are gathering more information. Per team policy, we will continue to respect the legal process and have no further comment at this time.

Los Angeles tendered Westbrooks an original-round restricted free-agent offer heading into the offseason.
