The Carolina Panthers are working on a reunion with former pass-rushing star Julius Peppers, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Peppers was a dominant force in his eight-year stint with the Panthers at the outset of his career. He racked up 81 total sacks as the star of the team's defense, but was allowed to leave in 2010.

He then spent four years with the Chicago Bears and the past three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, with whom he chased a Super Bowl ring.

On the final stretch of his 15-year career, Peppers could be opting to come home and help the Panthers regain their championship form.
