Report: Seahawks have no immediate interest in signing Peterson

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Despite reports linking Adrian Peterson to the Seattle Seahawks, the team has no immediate interest in signing the veteran tailback, according to USA TODAY Sports' Tom Pelissero.

The idea that Peterson is a fit for the Seahawks, which Peterson himself has pushed for, was always a little awkward. Peterson has historically been at his worst when running out of the shotgun (which the Seahawks employ heavily) and behind a subpar offensive line (which the Seahawks most certainly have).

Pelissero notes the Seahawks' lack of interest could change if Peterson remains unsigned and his asking price drops. The same could be said for a lot of teams.

It's possible a strong market will emerge for Peterson, but it appears possible, if not likely, he will have a much harder time finding his next team than many analysts expected when the Minnesota Vikings announced his release.
