Bills' LeSean McCoy: Seen as good fit in new scheme

Bills head coach Sean McDermott believes McCoy (ankle) will be a good fit in the team's new offensive system, buffalobills.com reports. "Well I think if you ask most defensive coordinators, LeSean's probably a fit for most offenses and ours is no different," said McDermott. "I'm excited about seeing LeSean in our offense."

Analysis:

McCoy has been mentioned in offseason rumors as a potential cap casualty, but it sounds as if the team's new leadership envisions him playing a starring role in offensive coordinator Rick Dennison's stretch zone scheme. The 28-year-old has already proven to be effective in a variety of offensive systems through eight NFL seasons, most recently rushing for 1,267 yards and 13 touchdowns on 234 carries (5.4) in 2016. McCoy dealt with a slew of nagging injuries the past few years -- including a high-ankle sprain at the end of 2016 -- but he'll likely be healthy by the time OTAs begin in mid-to-late April.
