"O.J.: Made in America" was named best documentary feature at Sunday's 89th Academy Awards.

The epic film examines issues of race and celebrity in America through the life, football career, and murder trial of former NFL star and actor O.J. Simpson.

At 467 minutes (nearly eight hours long), it's the longest Oscar winner ever.

It's also the first Oscar win for ESPN, which produced the documentary as part of its acclaimed "30 For 30" series. Ezra Edelman produced (along with Caroline Waterlow) and directed.

"O.J.: Made in America" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016, then aired on ABC and ESPN in five parts. This fact drew some criticism among a few documentary filmmakers, who made the case it was not a film and rather a television program.
