Mahomes wants to be drafted by Browns

Cleveland may not be the most attractive destination, coming off a franchise-worst 1-15 season, but quarterback prospect Patrick Mahomes sees no problem in playing for the Browns.

The junior out of Texas Tech is currently slotted behind fellow quarterbacks Deshaun Watson, DeShone Kizer, and Mitch Trubisky in theScore's NFL mock draft, but he hopes a strong performance at the upcoming scouting combine propels him to the top of the Browns' draft board.

"I want to get drafted as high as possible and I want to get drafted to the right team, and I feel like (Browns head coach) Hue Jackson has a great thing going there," Mahomes told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer in early February.

He added, "I feel like I have a lot to offer and I feel like if I do well at the combine and at pro day, I will be up there with them."

The Browns have a glaring need at quarterback, but it remains to be seen if any of this year's crop of draftable pivots are worthy of the No. 1 overall pick and the riches that come with it.

"It's always the dream to get drafted No. 1 overall," Mahomes said. "I'm just going to keep working hard and hopefully that will show at the pro day and combine."

Mahomes threw for 5,052 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his final season at the college level. His Red Raiders went 5-7 and finished sixth in the Big 12.
